Charcoal scrubs, face masks, and sponges have become all the rage in the beauty world. The benefits are helping you get those stubborn pores clean and clear! Recently I got the chance to try out one of these charcoal sponges. I actually had never even heard of such a thing until recently, so I was excited to try!
I was sent The Japanese Konjac Bamboo Charcoal Sponge, which retails for $11.65 USD. This sponge is suitable for more oily/acne prone skin and is 100% NATURAL, VEGAN, NO PARABEN / PRESERVATIVES, NON-GMO, BIODEGRADABLE and ECO-FRIENDLY! Now I am always on the look out for products that are vegan because it means it is also a cruelty free product! (SAY NO TO ANIMAL TESTING KIDS!) You can use this on both your face and body.
I brought this bad boy into the shower with me and I let it sit for a while just letting water soak into it because when it first comes out of the box, it feels like a hard piece of Styrofoam. So it really needs to soak up. after a bit of absorption, I started on my chest and worked my way up to my face.

It feels very weird when you are using this. I’m not really even sure how to describe it. But I did not like this on my face. It helped a bit around my nose because I have dry flakes always on my nose (and clogged pores..) but that’s it. I felt this worked better on my body areas because my skin is a little bit tougher on my chest/arms than my face. Now here’s the question- would I recommend this? If you have problem areas on your body where your pores just don’t seem to clean out, grab one of these. But if you have full intentions of using this on your face, be sure to know if your facial skin is tough enough. I have baby skin and am uber sensitive haha.
